Crying cowboys are definitely a motif in my work. I started drawing them sort of as a joke art first, but as I drew more and more of them they became more meaningful to me. The cowboy is one of the most stereotypically macho male figures -so I thought why not make him cry. People think of cowboys as strong, and I'm not trying to challenge that but rather challenge the idea of what strength is. I believe that vulnerability, and allowing tears to flow, is a true show of strength.

I designed this shirt for a Mother's Day art market. It features five drawings of jackalopes, a mythical jack-rabbit and antelope hybrid creature from north-American folklore.
